Global Positioning System!

A GPS receiver receives radio signals from at least 3 satellites, and then can compute your exact position, usually to withing 30 feet. You have the option of buying a C6 with a NAV (navigation) system installed already, but personally I don't think that's the best idea. My reasona are (1)2 years after you buy the car, whatever was installed in it is obsolete - the portable units available each year will continue to improve while you're permanently stuck with an old outdated system, (2)it's not portable - unlike one that you can buy separately, tuck in your pocket and use while walking, riding a bike, motorcycle, and even transfer to another car.

Finally, the prices on portable GPS receivers continue to drop all the time, so for $600 or less, you can get something FAR better than will ever come equipped on the Vette, where a GPS is an option that costs $3000.

There are lots of reviews and information on the web about which unit to buy. Here are some of my most helpful links:

I think it's perfect for what I need. Touch screen allows you to program your target location with a few touches of your finger. If you stray off your planned route, the Garmin automatically recalculates the best route from your current location. It has a voice that will tell you well in advance when you should look for the next turn - then as you approach will tell you "turn left". If you need to find the closest ATM, or restaurant, or gas station, it will do that for you with a touch of the screen. Also, there is no problem plugging it in to a cigarette lighter adapter plug in the C6, but you'll find that the Garmin's own battery lasts about 4 hours on a full charge, so charging in the car is rarely necessary.

You can fit this in your shirt pocket comfortably. And with a Belkin universal cupholder mount, it fits quite nicely in the C6.

You should be able to get this unit for less than $600, and the prices will continue to fall. You really don't need anything more fancy nor more expensive than what this unit provides.

For now I'm using the "Belkin F8U0802 OmniDock-L Vehicle Dock for Handheld Devices". Do a search in Google and you'll likely find one for $17 or so. The unit comes with it's own mount, suitable for the dashboard or windshield, but I prefer the cupholder mount. Here are some pictures.

The Belkin F8U0802 is made for PDA's. You'll have to pry apart the little arms just a little bit to fit the Garmin Nuvi 350's width, which is 4 inches. But as you can see in these pictures, the fit is pretty good, if not perfect. Certainly it is stable enough so the unit would never fall out.
