Introduction

Service Manual

Some guys call this the "shop manual". The formal name is "service manual" in case you're trying to do a web search for one. What is it? It's the book that tells the service technician how to diagnose and fix just about anything that can go wrong with the Corvette. Unfortunately it is rather technical, and to really do everything yourself, you'd have to have a lift, and tons of other expensive diagnostic and specialty equipment that most of us just do not have. Still, it is a nice resource to have around.

For example - you need to change your headlamp. You hunt and hunt, but you just cannot find out how to get access to the lamp fasteners to change it (even if you have somehow managed to get the $1000 to buy the new lamp in the first place). How are you going to do this? And how are you going to remove the old lamp and attach the new one? Just look it up in the service manual, and you'll see all the locations of the fender fasteners that you need to loosen in order to get this done.

Consider this book a nice, and very expensive, option to have around. Unless you are a dedicated racer or a die-hard mechanic, you'll only use it a few times in the life of your car. Still, I always like to keep the actual shop manuals for all my vehicles.

Other manuals

There are other manuals that are supplied with your new Corvette. These include the "Getting to know your Corvette" manual, the Owner's manual, and the NAV manual, in case you purchased the navigation system option.

Where to buy service manuals

Unfortunately you cannot download these. They are a bit expensive. There's no need for a long list here. I just posted a question on Corvette Forum, and right away I got several responses.

I bought my service manuals from Gene Culley at GM Parts House I had the manuals in my grimy little hands in less than 5 days. Price was about $130 which was the best I found anywere. Click on his logo above, and follow the instructions, which are a bit complex. Gene comes highly recommended by the other guys at Corvette Forum.

Owner's Manuals

Here's where I'll post copies of any owner's manuals I can get my hands on. If you have a .pdf version of a Corvette owner's manual that you do not see listed here, please email it to me. I'll post it here so that other drivers can get some help!

"Getting to know your Corvette" manuals

This is the most important information when you first drive your Vette. These manuals give you the quick low-down on how to work all the controls in the cockpit, and how to interpret icons in the instrument cluster.
